[This article is not an attack on Roman Catholics or Roman Catholicism but a mere comparison between the ‘Faith and Traditions of the Catholic Church and the Scriptures and kept and preserved by the Lord God in the King James Bible of 1611].c
1 Kings 18:21 King James Version (KJV) - And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
Elijah’s question is very much the question to the Christian Church today. ‘How long halt ye between two opinions?’ This is called syncretism
Syncretism : noun / the amalgamation or attempted amalgamation of different religions, cultures, or schools of thought.
Jesus addressed this same issue of syncretism in the church of the Laodiceans.
Revelation 3:16 King James Version (KJV) - So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Jesus rejects lukewarm Christianity. This form of Christianity is neither here nor there. It’s a mixture (amalgamation). A Christian cannot hold two opinions but one; If Baal be God follow him but if the Lord be God follow Him.
The Israelites of Elijah day were double minded.
James 1:5-8 -King James Version (KJV) - If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
A double minded Christian cannot have his or her prayers answered by the Lord. Such a Christian is tossed of the wind (winds of doctrines that is) and therefore unstable. A wavering mind is a faithless Christian and therefore ‘let not that Christian think that she/he shall receive anything of the Lord.
James exhorts the believers to ask for wisdom. Wisdom is the holding of truth in righteousness or without unholy alliances. God in His love will always give those who ask in faith. If we lack understanding which here is what James calls wisdom, then we must ask in faith i.e. to ask with conviction and understanding that God will respond to our prayers according to His word when we pray according to His Word. He is a God who will give as freely when we ask in faith because He is merciful to our unrighteousness.
Our faith is to rest solely on the scriptures. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:5 King James Version (KJV) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
WHAT YOU THINK MATTERS?
Take for example this Catholic quote:
S.C. Mosna, Storia della Domenica (1969): 366-367: “Not the creator of the Universe in Genesis 2:1-3. but the catholic church can claim the honour of having granted man a pause to his work every seven days”.
The Bible says, it’s God who granted man a pause to his work every seven days in Genesis 2:1-3. Who do you agree with? What you make of this has to do with your mind? If we decide to go along with the Catholic Church then we come under condemnation and therefore subject to God’s wrath. If we agree with God then the wrath of the Catholic Church is born upon us.
What every human being on the planet should know is that the Word of God as preserved to this very day and to every generation and will continue to be until the end of time on earth, is the authority of God. Since the beginning of creation, God in His faithfulness has kept His word and preserved it in every generation:
Psalm 12:6-7 King James Version (KJV) - The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Job 21:22 King James Version (KJV) - Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
And again Psalm 94:8-11 King James Version (KJV) - Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Below is another Catholic quote which puts it beyond doubt as to what every thinking man should do. So we must consider carefully what we must do because the Catholic Church makes it clear what is at stake.
“Reason and common sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives: either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday, or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday. Compromise is impossible” – The Catholic Mirror, December 23, 1893 [The Mirror is a Baltimore Roman Catholic weekly newspaper]
All nations and tongues have a particular faith to which they adhere. Every human being is entitled to his/er thoughts and preferences in matters of faith and spirituality. Choice is what makes humans distinguishable from animals. God doesn’t force men to follow Him, instead He gives us a choice:
Deuteronomy 30:19 King James Version (KJV) - I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.
But Roman Catholicism says the following:
“Sunday is our mark of authority…The Church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.” Catholic Record September 1, 1923.
Since the Catholic Church is above the Bible, then as a Christian who believes that the Bible is the-‘be and end-all’ of my faith cannot be part of the Catholic Church or partake of her doctrines.
"SUNDAY IS OUR MARK OF AUTHORITY"
The Lord God says the 7th Day of the weekly Sabbath is the Mark of His Authority. Therefore I choose the day of the Lord and not Sunday, the 1st Day of the week. The Catholic Church have instituted Sunday as their Sabbath and therefore the Mark of her authority. Those who will not keep Sunday Holy as per the commandment of the Catholic Church will not be able to buy or sell. The Mark of the Beast spoken of in Rev 13:17, 14:9, 14:11, 15:2, 16:2 – is the keeping of Sunday as though it were the Sabbath Day of the Lord God. Those who will keep Sunday as the ‘Rest Day’ accept the authority of the Catholic Church and will receive the Mark in their foreheads because they think it the right thing to do in relation to faith and worship, or in their right hand because it’s for them a Sabbath of Rest from labour although they may not think it’s the right day or the True Sabbath.
WILL THE CATHOLIC CHURCH FORCE PEOPLE TO KEEP SUNDAY?
“The Catholic Church is a respecter of conscience and of liberty…Nevertheless, when confronted by heresy,..she has recourse to force, to corporal punishment, to torture..She lit in Italy …the funeral piles of the inquisition.” Catholic professor Alfred Baudrillart “The Catholic Church, Renaissance and Protestantism,” pp. 182, 183
So how does the Catholic Church define heresy? Heresy, Schism and Apostasy: The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines these three sins against the faith in this way:
The Church's moral theology has always distinguished between objective or material sin and formal sin. The person who holds something contrary to the Catholic faith is materially a heretic. They possess the matter of heresy, theological error. Thus, prior to the Second Vatican Council it was quite common to speak of non-Catholic Christians as heretics, since many of their doctrines are objectively contrary to Catholic teaching. This theological distinction remains true, though in keeping with the pastoral charity of the Council today we use the term heretic only to describe those who willingly embrace what they know to be contrary to revealed truth. Such persons are formally (in their conscience before God) guilty of heresy. Thus, the person who is objectively in heresy is not formally guilty of heresy if 1) their ignorance of the truth is due to their upbringing in a particular religious tradition (to which they may even be scrupulously faithful), and 2) they are not morally responsible for their ignorance of the truth. This is the principle of invincible ignorance, which Catholic theology has always recognized as excusing before God.
The same is true of apostasy. The person who leaves not just the Catholic Church but who abandons Christ Himself is materially an apostate. He is formally an apostate through willful, and therefore culpable, repudiation of the Christian faith.
Remember the Catholic Church is above the Bible according to their quote? How can I accept the Catholic faith, its doctrines as revealed truth or be subject to the Roman Pontiff whom Vatican I defined as having a universal primacy of authority over the whole Church?
There are two authorities in the world. The scriptures; ‘Thus Saith The Lord’ as written and preserved in the KJV of 1611: And Roman Catholicism which is Mithraism.
If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.
